During my 13-month journey to research A Game of Polo with a Headless Goat, discovering Asia's bizarre traditional sports, it was obvious that this was perfect TV material.
After a commission from National Geographic Channel to make a 6-part series, myself and a small film crew set off to make programmes in Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, North and South India. I presented and wrote the series, and it was great fun to make, and very satisfying to see these wonderful sports come to life again on the TV screen! We covered the fast and furious kok boru (headless goat polo) in Kyrgyzstan, slippery oil wrestling in Turkey, comical donkey racing in Pakistan, graceful - yet deadly - martial arts in Kerala, and lumbering camel-racing in tribal Iran.
